Tehran, Iran — The Israeli military revealed Monday evening that an IDF drone targeted and destroyed two Iranian F-14 fighter jets at a Tehran airbase just minutes before they were scheduled to take off.
In a separate but coordinated operation, the Israeli Air Force successfully intercepted and neutralized an Iranian drone launch attempt aimed at Israeli territory.
According to military sources, Israeli aircraft had been closely monitoring the launch team and its equipment in recent days. The strike eliminated the operators and destroyed the drone launchers shortly before the attack could be executed.
The IAF also confirmed strikes on containers used to store drones in western Iran, reinforcing its strategy of preemptive targeting to prevent aerial threats from materializing.
The F-14 jets, originally manufactured in the United States, were supplied to Iran during the reign of Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, prior to the 1979 Islamic Revolution.
