Russia Launches New Massive Missile and Drone Attack on Kyiv; At Least 10 Injured

Ukraine (Russia struck the Ukrainian capital again early Thursday with a new massive missile and drone assault, igniting fires across multiple areas of Kyiv and leaving at least 10 people injured, according to Ukrainian authorities. The attack came just one day after the most intense aerial offensive recorded in the three-year-long war.

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported on Telegram that rescue teams were working at a residential building in the Shevchenkivskyi District, where falling missile debris caused a fire on the top floor.

Meanwhile, Tymur Tkachenko, head of the Kyiv Regional Administration, said fires broke out in at least five other districts, affecting residential buildings, vehicles, warehouses, office spaces, and other non-residential structures. He added that three of the injured suffered shrapnel wounds.

Russia has recently intensified its strategy of overwhelming Ukraine’s air defenses through large-scale attacks using explosive drones and decoy drones. The night before, Moscow launched over 700 drones, marking the third largest barrage in just two weeks.

In addition to the aerial assault, the Russian army has launched a new ground offensive along parts of the 1,000-kilometer (620-mile) front line, where Ukrainian forces — suffering from limited personnel and resources — are under heavy pressure.

Trump Hardens Stance and Resumes Arms Shipments

U.S. President Donald Trump stated on Tuesday that he is “not happy with Putin,” who has refused to alter his ceasefire demands or show willingness to negotiate since Trump took office in January.

On Monday, Trump announced that the U.S. would resume sending weapons to Ukraine, just days after a pause in deliveries due to a Pentagon review of domestic stockpiles. On Wednesday, two U.S. officials — speaking anonymously — confirmed that shipments of 155 mm munitions and GMLRS guided rockets had resumed, though the exact start date was not disclosed.
