New York, June 11, 2025 — United Hatzalah will host its annual gala this Wednesday in New York City, spotlighting remarkable acts of heroism and honoring key figures who have shown steadfast support for Israel.
This year’s guest of honor is Steve Witkoff, former U.S. President Donald Trump’s special envoy to the Middle East. Witkoff will receive the prestigious "Life Award" from former Hamas hostages Noa Argamani and Eli Sharabi, with Dr. Miriam Adelson also participating in the tribute. Witkoff is expected to address the gala on his enduring commitment to Israel and the evolving dynamics of U.S.-Israel relations.
An emotional highlight of the evening will include the presentation of the "Greenberg Traurig Courage Award" to Dr. Tamar Schlesinger, a heroic volunteer from United Hatzalah’s Psychological Resilience Unit. On October 7, Dr. Schlesinger maintained 12 hours of contact with two traumatized children, Michael and Amalia, who had hidden in a closet after witnessing the murder of their parents and the kidnapping of their sister, Abigail Idan. Her calming presence helped the children hold on until the IDF rescued them.
The gala will showcase powerful stories of survival, courage, and unwavering support, reinforcing United Hatzalah’s life-saving mission throughout Israel.
