Trump Revises Gaza Hostage Count to 21 Survivors

During a press conference on Tuesday, former U.S. President Donald Trump announced that only 21 hostages remain alive in Gaza, correcting a previous estimate. "Initially, the number was 24, but I now say 21 because three have died. This is a tragic situation," Trump stated after a meeting with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney.

Trump emphasized ongoing efforts to secure the release of the remaining captives, adding, "We've managed to bring many of them back, but as it stands, there are 21 survivors among a large number of casualties."

In response, the Hostages Families Forum released a statement early Wednesday, calling on the Israeli government to share any updated information regarding the hostages. The forum noted that the last official count provided to them listed 24 surviving hostages.

This revision follows comments made by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who recently stated that up to 24 hostages remained alive, a figure his wife, Sara Netanyahu, appeared to question during a media appearance, suggesting the number might be even lower.
