In a disturbing turn of events, two Israeli businessmen were found murdered just hours apart on Saturday in separate incidents within the same Los Angeles neighborhood, the San Fernando Valley. Authorities say the killings occurred inside each victim’s residence and are not currently believed to be connected.
The first victim, 47-year-old Alexander Modebadze, was subjected to a particularly violent attack. According to police, three intruders broke into his home, held him captive for several hours, and ultimately beat him to death. Three Georgian nationals — Pata Kochiashvili, Zaza Outarashvili, and Basiki Kutsishvili — have been arrested and charged in connection with the murder. All three are being held on $2 million bail.
Later the same day, police discovered the body of another Israeli businessman, Meni Hidhra, who was identified as the brother of the warden at Israel’s Nitzan Prison. Few details have been released regarding his death, including the method by which he was killed. However, authorities did publish photos of a potential suspect described as a Hispanic male between the ages of 30 and 40.
The Los Angeles Police Department continues to investigate both cases.
