Trump to Visit Gulf Arab States Amid Crises in Gaza and Iran

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates U.S. President Donald Trump will visit Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates this week, despite mounting tensions in the region, including an escalating conflict in Gaza and renewed nuclear concerns with Iran.

While Trump’s trip will focus on economic interests, including potential business deals, the visit comes as Israel intensifies its offensive in Gaza, worsening a humanitarian crisis under a strict blockade. Meanwhile, Iran, a regional rival, appears closer to developing nuclear weapons, raising fears of further instability.

Trump's focus on economic ties with Gulf nations that host or plan Trump-branded projects reflects his priority to leverage American influence in business, but he will likely face pressure to address ongoing conflicts.

Israeli officials have noted Trump’s decision not to visit their country, raising concerns about U.S. support amid ongoing violence. This follows the recent U.S.-brokered halt to strikes on Iran-backed Houthi forces in Yemen, a move that surprised Israel and raised questions about Trump’s commitment to regional security.

As Trump heads to the Gulf, his administration is also negotiating with Iran over its nuclear program, adding another layer of complexity to his Middle East tour.
